Say hello to Clara – Clara has worked for #NWCare for over two and half years and has used her care experience and learning to help her move into Nursing.Clara is from the #Strabane area and was inspired by Community Care work to start studying Nursing at Magee University (Ulster University ) in #Derry / #Londonderry.
How has Community Care work helped you? “I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do career wise and realised whilst working in the community ….that I wanted to be a nurse, it really gave me the foundation and direction I needed. Thankfully, I am moving into my third year now and really value the study/work balance that NWCare provides”.
Is the work accommodating to other responsibilities? “I work with NWCare in a bank capacity – basically letting the team know when I am available to work and they provide me with the appropriate work… which is great because they team understand my study needs”
Has care work helped you personally? “I love providing care in the community, it has given me such confidence and really enhanced my communication skills, which is essential in this sector”.
Any guidance for others thinking about working in Care? “Anyone can do what I did by just starting out in the community, I know NWCare provide full comprehensive training for those with no experience, so if your serious about following my journey…you don’t have any excuses”
